THE PAMLICO ARTS COUNCIL PRESENTS
REMEMBRANCES OF

PAMLICO PAST

A STORYTELLING EVENT

The PAC Inaugural Storytelling Event was held on

February 22, 2025.  Storytellers Shelia Cantine and Bill Fentress spoke before a record crown at Grove & Vine in Oriental.

From tales of narrow escapes from capture during the Civil War,

to novice fishing faux pas, Cantine and Fentress shared true stories from their lengthy family histories in Pamlico County.

The Full Story

Join us for this inaugural event as the PAC expands its portfolio

to include the art of storytelling.

Considered a cultural essential, verbal storytelling has

served as a way to share everything from oral history to comedy and satire.

Despite the many technological advances of our time,

there is something of great value in hearing an author read from their published works,

a professor expound upon the words of a textbook,

and a family member share a beloved anecdote at a family gathering.

There is truly power in the spoken word.
